With You stemmed from a poem, Fiends frontman Ethan Goslett had written a few months before the band had even begun to write 'With You'. The poem was called Hazel and was written about someone’s addiction to heroin, a growing issue in Swansea and around the UK. The lyrics portrayed Hazel as a person rather than a drug, a theme that Goslett really liked and stuck to when adapting the poem for the song.
